NEVADA CITY, CA (April 5) — The United States launch of Paramhansa Yogananda: A Biography begins this week with a major promotion at more than 260 Barnes & Noble locations throughout the country.
The 344-page book, written by longtime disciple Swami Kriyananda, will be prominently merchandised in the windows and front sections of the participating Barnes & Noble locations in all major U.S. markets through April 16. It is also available throughout the Barnes & Noble chain.
“The fact that the nation’s largest bookseller has looked at the success of Autobiography of a Yogi, and sees this book being potentially equal in stature, speaks to the reach this book will have,” Crystal Clarity Publisher Skip Barrett said. “We’re delighted to begin our U.S. sales effort in such a big way.”
The Barnes & Noble promotion begins a busy three months in which Paramhansa Yogananda: A Biography is presented and showcased at various events, conferences and prominent book fairs throughout the country. On April 22, it will be featured at the L.A. Times Festival of Books on the University of Southern California campus. From June 4-7, the book will be Crystal Clarity Publishers’ central attraction at Book Expo of America, along with several other titles. On June 24, the author, Swami Kriyananda, will discuss the book and share his experiences with Yogananda in a special presentation at the Ford Theater in Los Angeles.
Paramhansa Yogananda: A Biography features numerous stories and accounts of the Indian yoga master’s life not found in the classic Autobiography of a Yogi. That book, the best-selling spiritual autobiography of all time with nearly 5 million copies sold since its release in 1947, has drawn millions of spiritual seekers toward an interest in yoga and meditation.
Now, on the 60th anniversary of Yogananda’s mahasamadhi, or conscious passing, Swami Kriyananda shares Yogananda’s vision for humankind — a vision that, Kriyananda writes, made Yogananda an emissary for today’s age of accelerating energy, spirit, and consciousness.
